As summer dwindles, it’s time to start thinking about back to school. For us BU students that means packing up and heading to Boston. I’m going to share some tips I’ve learned that will hopefully make packing easier for you!
My first tip is to make a list. Decide what you are going to need and write it down. Check things off as you go so you don’t forget anything. If you can’t figure out what to put on your list, try searching for one online. There are lots of great websites that have lists of things you’ll need for college, which can make figuring out what you’re going to need easier.
My second tip is to pack as little as possible! I can almost guarantee that you will pack too much on you’re first try. Don’t attempt to bring your whole closet or everything you have in your room. Even if you could fit everything into your dorm room, it would make unpacking that much more difficult. When you are making your list and packing try to think about if you are going to use what you are bringing. Don’t forget you can always have things shipped to you if you forget something at home!
My third tip is to bring pictures. Pictures are a fun way to personalize and decorate your dorm room. They’re also a nice reminder of home. I made a collage of pictures, so that I only had to worry about getting it on my wall instead of arranging lots of pictures.
My last tip is to relax when you’re packing! Getting stressed in only going to make packing harder. Take a deep breath and remember you can always buy or ship anything that you end up forgetting!
