Hey everyone! My name is Slade Stone and I will be the Media Coordinator for the upcoming semester, which, by the looks of it, is coming up fast! I worked as the Media Coordinator for a YMCA camp in East Troy, Wisconsin called Camp Edwards. And although my time working this summer has come to an end, I am thrilled to be able to share the experiences. I grew up attending Camp Edwards every summer for eight years, and was completely thrilled when they asked me personally to run their media segments for the summer of 2014.
As their media coordinator, I was asked to treat each day as a full-time event and take pictures covering the actions of children in their skills, games, and activities. Each day I would take these photos and put them on the camp website for parents and family members. The job was taxing—I basically worked six days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. But luckily for me, I got to spend every single day of my summer doing something that I loved with all of my heart, at a place that means everything to me.
In addition to day-to-day coverage, I used occasional downtime to create calendars, videos, and even a 75-page staff yearbook entirely on my own.
I was given numerous opportunities to refine my Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and FinalCut skills, which proved that the job benefitted me just as much as I benefited the job! To see more examples of the photography, visit the Camp Edwards website at https://www.facebook.com/EdwardsYMCA.
